The murder trial of Alex Murdaugh concluded its second day on Tuesday with the initial jury pool of around 600 people reduced to 120.

Those 120 will return at 11 a.m. Wednesday, as prosecutors and defense attorneys file until 12.

South Carolina State Attorney Joe McCulloch expects the final jury to be selected by 1 p.m

The case unfolded quickly. And McCulloch says, because of the nature of this case, he expects Judge Cliffton Newman to keep things moving quickly.

“We’ve seen several jurors excused because of their anxiety,” McCulloch said. “I think one person said PTSD. And you know it’s a very real thing. To go through a trial of this tragedy with pictures that will no doubt inevitably be presented, it’s upsetting.”

McCulloch says prosecutors will target jurors who feel angry or sympathetic about the killings.

He says the defense will be looking for jurors who are thoughtful, observant and able to compartmentalize their emotions.
